2016 GRC
August 22-24 here in South Florida, 2016 GRC is a conference on goverance, risk, and compliance organized by IIA (Institute of Internal Auditors) and ISACA. I'm a member of ISACA, but not IIA. Several of the session are of interest to me as they tie into cybersecurity and topics like COBIT, NIST CSF, and more. COSO is doing their update of their risk management framework and hosting a look to get public comment.
2016 South Florida ISSA Hack the Flag/Chili Cookoff
The South Florida ISSA Chapter has for years hosted an annual hack the flag event. This year should be our biggest. In addition to our Chili Cookoff, we will again have a lockpick village and will be adding speakers. And some other new activities.
This year we will be hosted at FIU and instead of being in August, will be on September 10th. Registration should be opening up soon.
2016 ISSA International Conference
Coming up November 2-3 in Dallas is the 2016 ISSA International Conference. The committee (which I am part of) has been working to lineup a great set of speakers and events. If you're able to come, please do so. Should be great.

The week later, November 7-12, SANS is hold a smaller conference in the area: SANS Miami. This one offers 5 courses, including their excellent SEC401 Security Essentials. I am hoping to be able to attend as a volunteer. But registration is open now so sign up.
